A Proposal for Progressive Increase of Health Screening Test Items




Abstract
Background:
As varieties in the kind of health screening test panels have brought lack of discrimination power and increase of economical burden, we tried to propose a method of improving health examination services progressively through decision of
priority of
health screening test items.
Methods:
This study was performed through the close consideration of the guide of US Preventive Service Task Forces, various foreign and domestic articles, an some medical statistics of Korea.
Results:
Twenty five primary screening and thirty nine primary additive test items were chosen for eight major target diseases. Ten secondary screening and five secondary additive test items were chosen for seven minor target diseases. Four other
diseases
were included with selective screening test items. Three stages of trial for every ten years' period were proposed to perform health screening service effectively through decision of priority of target diseases and some requirements.
Conclusion:
The results of this study may be a reference for preventive healthcare facilities to decide target disease and screening test items of healthcare services.
